The Mental Model
Now business means money, right?
And to learn a high-income skill, I would need to pay money, right? Not really. Moreso, not anymore.
As most of you know, the “internet” has tonnes of free stuff that you can watch to learn, make money, bla bla bla.
To some extent, yes.
To the bigger extent, fuck no.
Watching free stuff to make money means spending A LOT of time trying to find the right material that will help you with “quality”.
There’s this thing Elon Musk said about how the internet is free and instead of paying to study for a degree, just learn from the internet.
Now yes that’s true but understand that time and money are interchangeable.
‘So instead of paying for a structure, resources or learning material, better known as a “degree”, you pay with your time to learn for free.
I mention this because even though I had enrolled into an engineering degree just over a year ago, everything I now know about marketing, psychology, self-confidence, speaking, entrepreneurship, the creator economy, content creation, filmmaking, editing, focus, one-person business, creative communication, making money online, critical thinking and business, it all came from real life experience and spending THOUSANDS OF HOURS on online research.
Not a degree.
Did I do it for free? Yes.
Did it require a lot of time, patience, pain, suffering, struggle, sleepless nights, anxiety, loneliness? Yep.
So even though I can give you all this free information, understand that this is a version of the D-I-Y method (Do It Yourself).
It’s the same as any digital course, ebook, webinar, email, and video.
It’s where you have to figure things out, learn, practice, and solve problems on your own.
The point is, YOU are in control of your skill acquisition, the quality of your skill and making money.
No one will make money for you and no one will do the work for you.
I cannot hold your hand and show you exactly where you might be going wrong or what you need to improve because if I did, let’s just say there would be thousands of people in line and one of me.
